Connaught Street, Athlone, Mixed Development2002 - 2006Located on an infill site on Connaught Street, Athlone, the project consists of mixed use development (13000m2), including 84 no Apartments, Retail Units, Medical Centre and a children's day-care facility. The proposal includes retention of existing buildings together with new infill construction along the original street line. A new pedestrian street is formed to allow access to the remaining backland "brownfield" site. The new street connects with a new public square which adjoins an existing church. The church which to date has been hidden from public view, now becomes the focal point of this piece of urban intervention |
