mission statementArchitecture is a vital agency of social betterment. It is the art of defining spaces for human activity. In the case of Croke Park Stadium the activity is one of great joy and outgoing. Our stadium architecture reflects that spirit. The forms, which we create, impact internally and externally in terms of both space and visual imagery. The successful synthesis of the spatial and the visual makes inspiring Architecture. That is where we have hitherto put our best energies and where we aim to operate. This is not a new approach just developed for the stadium. For twenty years, we have invested this philosophy into many different building types such as educational projects, libraries, office buildings, museums and sports facilities. In addition, we have completed a series of advanced and varied designs in architectural competitions. Innovation has been a characteristic of them all. Each project displays our endeavour to develop a design solution particular to its specific requirements from the larger concept to the detail. Each project responds differently to each specific site. That endeavour has been proven to be as valid in the commercial sphere such as the speculative offices at Sweepstakes, Dublin, as in the cultural one such as the National Museum at Collins Barracks or in a specific one-off project such as the stadium at Croke Park. Innovation is not to be confused with experiment nor does it mean that all that has gone beforehand is abandoned. On the contrary, projects should benefit from past experience. We do not delude ourselves that innovation always transpires. It is generated in an atmosphere of challenge and questioning which enlarges the view of the particular problem under examination and thereby lead to solving its complexities in a more comprehensive way. For this reason our designs tend to go beyond formal description and are frequently more varied than the norm. In order to continue this philosophy, we continually organise ourselves to further develop skills and techniques in an environment of innovation research and continuous inquiry within the full architectural palette. This includes many quite disparate points of references, which range from the physical world of materials to the phenomenal ones of light, colour and environment. Architecture is by nature a collaborative process. It thrives in an atmosphere of design energy, genuine input from the client, and serious concern for the user. |
